RIDE TO THE TOP OF ARIZONA
Summer Operations Open at the Arizona Snowbowl
Hiking Limited Due to Deep Snow
Flagstaff, AZ – May 21, 2008
The Arizona Snowbowl will be opening this coming
Saturday, May 24, with the very popular Scenic Skyride. The Skyride
will be open for daily operations from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Peak
Side Café will be open daily, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., serving
a wonderful lunch menu. The Café is the highest restaurant
in Arizona.
Boasting views of the vast San Francisco Peaks volcanic field
and beyond, the spectacular Scenic Skyride rises from the fragrant
ponderosa pine forest every day through the Labor Day weekend.
Thursdays through Sundays, the Coconino National Forest and Park
Service Rangers will be stationed at the top of the Skyride providing
interpretive talks about the history and geology of this wonderful
area.
Temperatures average 40 degrees cooler than the searing summer
heat of the desert at the top of the Skyride, elevation 11,500
feet, which is almost one mile above Flagstaff and 10,000 feet
above Phoenix.
“The Scenic Skyride is a great way to enjoy our National
Forest and see the best views in northern Arizona. With the growing
popularity of the Skyride, this is a must do during the summer,” states
JR Murray, Snowbowl’s GM. “The Skyride is open for
all ages and is a great half-day activity for the entire family.”
